Being the first watch with a multi-touch screen, we consider ourselves pioneers of wearable technology. During the three years it took to develop Mutewatch, we resisted the temptation to add more functionality and features because we knew that the key to making a great product was to stay true to the goal, and do it perfectly.
Our goal was to create a vibrating touchscreen time management tool, which is exactly what Mutewatch is.
As a pioneer in wearable-tech, we pay attention to the trends of this growing market. Recently, when we saw a video from Bloomberg.com of a man obsessed with using this technology to monitor every aspect of his life, it was more clear than ever what we hope to never become.
With the role that technology plays in our lives growing each day, it’s important that we are able to look away from the screen and live our life in the moment. This is one of the reasons that Mutewatch looks the way it does – the screen is off most of the time.
When we talk about ‘making yourself mindful’ this is what we mean. Be mindful of the moment, be mindful of the world around you, and be mindful of what a thrill it is to be alive. Being mindful is the opposite of being obsessed with tracking ever detail, because once you start on that path, it’s easy to miss what was really important.
